Sky Transportation Services selects SkyBitz trailer management technology to upgrade its fleet

Published 23 August 2016

SkyBitz Enterprise Fleets, the leader in remote asset tracking and information management solutions, today announced that Sky Transportation Services has upgraded its fleet of over 500 dry-van trailers with the SkyBitz Falcon GXT3000, a cellular-based asset tracking solution providing real-time actionable information.

Sky Transportation, a leading long haul truckload carrier serving the continental U.S. and Mexico, began their use of trailer tracking solutions from SkyBitz Enterprise Fleets in 2006. Sky Transportation selected the award-winning Falcon GXT3000 in order to get more frequent reporting for enhanced visibility and greater analytic reporting capabilities.

"Our partnership with SkyBitz helps us continue to grow our business and provide our customers with necessary equipment they need. In the transportation business, you can’t utilize your equipment effectively if you don’t have reliable tracking on it.

“Knowing where our trailers are is vital information we need to manage our fleet efficiently, keeping cost projections low, and getting a return on investment," said Manny Roman, General Manager, Sky Transportation Services, Inc.

Sky Transportation is located only a few miles from the Mexican border, where they service many customers. Without direct visibility or the right tracking equipment installed on their trailers, there is great potential to lose equipment and money.

With SkyBitz’s Falcon GXT3000, Sky Transportation is able to get complete breadcrumb trail view and set up geographic perimeter based alerts at key landmarks and around their assets.

A new SkyBitz feature available with the GXT3000 solution that Sky Transportation has benefitted from is detention billing. With visibility into how long a trailer has been sitting at a site they are now able to bill for assets in detention time and can get even more ROI out of their equipment.

"We are pleased to continue our partnership with Sky Transportation and helping them to succeed in growing their business. By adopting our latest telematics technology, they’re equipped to better address their cross-border business demands including increasing security and efficiencies," said Henry Popplewell, President, SkyBitz.

"When coupled with our dedicated Customer Service team, our customers receive not only best-in-class solutions, they receive timely support and insights to help them get the most out of their investment."
